We came across this charity whilst leading a ride on behalf of our club. The group were raising money for the farm and when we looked into what they do, we were blown away. We made slow progress through Preston, Chorley and Leyland, eventually arriving at Whiston, where we met 5 nice people who bought us a round of drinks and donated £35 and gave us lots of encouragement.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For the next 30 mile, spirits were high and we made steady progress through to Whitechurch. Stopping at another watering hole, we collected another £10 and more encouragement. We left Gretna fairly depleated, we both had aches and pains but most of them wore off, thankfully......&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Our support team had gone to collect our hybrids hoping this would make a difference. We hoped to have them by dinnertime before the Kirkstone Pass, unfortunately, we didn't. We had readjusted geoffs gears and Mel's Knees had been on Ice unfortunately they didn't hold up long but he pushed his way through the pain and struggled on. The ride started to go really well for the remainder of the morning and as we started to get hungry we found a nice little pub. The view was fantastic as we climbed and climbed and climbed, we eventually reached the summit about 1250 feet. Then came the downhill along with the bloody wind again. We were introduced to our first mountain range up, up, up and up we went with wind in our face. On the way down we reached speeds only up to about 30 mph as the wind just held us back. We have now started to pick up some injuries Mel's left knee has swollen and Geoff has a calf strain. WTF are we going to do now out came the pr spray and the ibuprofen. We started off at 7.15 am with a 25 mph head wind for about an hour and a half. The wind died down and we started to enjoy it until we came to the first of two soul destroyers but we managed to make it to the top, the down hill most enjoyable.
